  The course introduces students to some fundamental topics of organizational economics. First, using approaches taken from behavioral economics individual decision making in organizations is analyzed. Then, the focus is on different types of incentive structures. Incentives eliciting higher performance are introduced as well as incentives for cooperative behavior and also for harmful behavior in organizations such as sabotage.
A second strand of the course is the introduction to empirical research approaches to analyze topics from organizational economics with an emphasis on experimental methods. Benefits and problems of different research methodologies are discussed.
